Halloween Oreo Rice Krispies Treats
I love being able to create memories with my little ones. Seasonal treats are a part of our tradition and I love capturing our moments making them. This Halloween we decided to try something different and they turned out delicious! Rice Krispies Treats can be made in different fun ways.
Rice Krispies Cereal (5 cups)
Marshmallows (1 bag)
Oreos (10 oreos without the filling)
6 Tablespoons Butter
Decor (Icing, sprinkles or items of your choice)
Rectangle Cake Pan
Parchment or wax paper
Scrape the middle filling off with a butter knife. Place the cookie pieces in a food storage bag and lightly crush the cookies. You want chipped pieces not crumbs. You can save the filling, melt it and make it an icing to go on top. I chose to throw it away. (I know how wasteful of me)
In a big pot, on low heat, slowly melt the butter. (high heat will burn your butter) Once the butter is melted add in the bag of marshmallows and continuously sir on low heat until melted. Constant stirring will prevent it from sticking or burning to the bottom of the pot. After the marshmallows have melted and you have a creamy looking consistency add in the Rice Krispies cereal, oreos chips and stir until combined.
In a buttered rectangle cake pan pour the mixer in and spread it evenly. Take a piece of wax or parchment paper and firmly press on the top of the mix. Let the pan sit for about 2 hours to let the marshmallows settle. Cut into squares (or other fun shapes) and decorate. All done!
This is a fun, easy and delicious treat to make with your little ones. What are your favorite halloween treats to make with for your child(ren) let me know below.
